The artist is a highly esteemed American etcher of the early twentieth century, Arthur William Heintzelman first studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. He then went to Europe for several years and completed his education in Holland, France, Belgium, Spain, England and Scotland. Upon returning to the United States, Heintzelman accepted the position of Head of the Fine Arts Department at the Detroit School of Design for a period of four years.
