Kauai Island Shell Lei. 3 strands measuring 41 1/2" inches including the clasp. Momi Ke'oke'o Waha 'ula'ula - White "dove" shells with red lip accents interspersed with Kahelelani 'akala 'ahiehie - Light pink blushed turban shells and Pipipi Shells - Small black nerite shells. The scientific species name means "pitch black". The clasp is 1 and 1/8 inch "surf' polished Schindler's Cowry (Lehopauhu) enhanced with 2 traditional Puka shells or naturally worn cone shell bottoms with convenient holes on each side. Sewn in the Poepoe (round or rope like) Kipona (lei sewn with a mixture of shells and colors) lei style. Assessed characteristics: Excellent selection of shell size, color, and placement. Good structure with appropriate fluidity and flow. Very good luster overall. Note: Missing 1 Momi Ke'oke'o Waha 'ula'ula 12 inches from the Puka shell on one strand.
