Niihau Shell Lei. Authenticated. Momi Lenalena. Delicate shade of yellow Momi "dove" shells. 3 strands measuring 34 inches including the clasp. Sewn in the Pikake (Jasmine flower) lei style. Clasp is a traditional white Bumpy or Granulated Cowry 7/8 inch (Poleholeho 'apu'upu'u) with some natural ocean patina embellished with 2 Kauno'o (rare variegated sundial shells) on each side of the cowry. This cowry has a glistening shine to it, which is not common in adult cowry making it rare. Typically, only juvenile cowries exhibit this shine. Assessed characteristics: Excellent luster and good alignment of shells with proper fluidity and flexibility in structure. Excellent selection of shell size and color. Note: Has been repaired.
