Niihau Shell Lei. Authenticated. Choker Length, Single Strand,19 1/2" Momi Kiko Kiko (Spotted and dotted white "dove" shells). Sewn in the Poepoe style (round or rope-like). Clasp consists of 2, 3/4 inch White Bumpy or Granulated Cowry (Poleholeho 'apu'upu'u) with a hook and eye clasp. Embellished with 2 Kauno'o or rare variegated sundial shells on each side of the cowries. This cowry has a glistening shine to it which is not common in adult cowry making it rare. Typically, only juvenile cowries exhibit this shine. Assessed characteristics: Good selection of shell size, color, and luster. The structure has proper synchronized shell alignment lending to good flexibility and flow. Note: Has been repaired
