Niihau Shell Lei. Authenticated. 29" Single Strand. 'Aililea Ke'oke'o, (white strombus maculatus). Sometimes known as large "dove" shells. Difficult to pierce because of the thickness. They were not made often. These shells are almost always sewn in this style. Approximately 15mm surf polished Puka shells- naturally worn cone shell bottoms with convenient holes, cap the lei ends. (3) 6-inch braided cordage lengths are attached to each end to facilitate a usable secure connection. Assessed characteristics: Excellent selection of shells size, color, and placement. Excellent alignment in structure with appropriate fluidity and flow.
